Coaches, You know there is a lot of European coaches on here (even some guy from Australia I guess) that keep posting stupid questions ;D ;D Football is also played in South America, Asia (Japanese are {censored} good by the way), Pacific Islands... Almost every year a new league is created: Brazil, Portugal and even in Africa! First American Football game (Touch Football) has been played recently in... Egypt! Alexandria Pirates vs. Kairos Black Panthers. Black Panthers is actually the 1st football team in Africa. I don't know if you, American coaches, care about that but I personnally think it's great news for our beloved game!!! MODS: I don't want to start any political thread right here. I just need to share that news with everyone's on here...

So, they start playing American football then have a democratic revolution. Coincidence?

We're looking to start doing tailback and captains by vote next year, so it can be... We do captains by election. To me that is the ONLY way to do it. Positions on the other hand I'd keep the coach's prerogative.

I'm not sure but the AGCA uses a Canadian rules coaching course
Also, the op mentioned us international small coaches asking endless waves of stupid questions. I just want to apologize for all the questions asked and thank the coaches for their extremely helpful responses. Thanks to the people on this board I have a better understanding of football then coaches who have played/coached for 10+ years. So once again, thankyou

Jeff Reinebold from SMU was speaking at a Coaching Clinic in Bavaria last week, he pumped up the gathered coaches by saying (and I paraphrase): "You are the best coaches, we are spoiled for choice. You dont have anything and are forced to make do." Now I dont believe we are the best Coaches, but it sure came across well PS: I am glad that I can do my bit to increase blood pressure of other coaches due to the knowledge I have gained from Forums such as this one.

I moved to Germany last year to play football. I was blown away by the amount of football being played in Europe. The coaching is very inconsistent, some teams are very well coached and others are coached very poorly. It really depends what city or club you are talking about. Most teams have a few American's or Canadians on the team. Guys who played at NCAA div 1,2 and 3 schools. Guys who were starters at NCAA div 1 schools were not always the best players on the field. There are some German Nationals very capable of playing the game at a high level. One thing I have realized since being over here is that Football is Football. I coach the same drills and run the same offense in Europe that I would run in America.

this is great news for me...now i have some ammunition for those soccer freaks around my town who say that american football will never be worth talking about since it's only big in america. this is a great post, and very encouraging for our sport. as for those coaching in other countries...thank YOU for doing an incredible service to the sport of football by sharing our great game with people who would otherwise never have a chance to experience it first hand.

Internet play a big role in the developpement of football in Europe. I'm not talking about coaching forum...
Each Saturday and Sunday you could watch College or Pro ball on your computer for free (okay, that's illegal...)
And Euro Teams broadcast their games for free on internet too (and that's legal!). I can watch Austrian League or French league on my couch each week.
The world championship, this summer in Austria will also be broadcast live.
I'm amazed to see how much game our kids watched on their computers now.
Good for football, good for us.
Actually, my team do not have enough quality coaches to take care of our 3teams. We are 7 coaches for a combined 150players...

I think it's taken crap over seas because it's called "football", but that might finally be wearing off.

Question: How does a non-NFL-bound college football player get involved in playing in Europe. I am a high school coach with multiple guys interested with no direction on where to send them.

Easiest way: www.europlayers.comAlso works for coaches. Top Euro teams have built their network and recruit D1 athletes.

At AFCA in Louisville this year I shared a cab with another coach who was staying in the hotel on the way to the Convention Center. He was a coach in Germany and mentioned that they are always looking for good coaches in Europe. It's always something that sounded like a fun thing to do, I've definitely looked into it before.
