Split, We switched this year to just coaching one side of the ball with evryone (9 - 12 grades). We have always practiced everyone together but before we would coach both sides of the ball, usually having a major position like OL and a secondary position like DL. So we would coach the Varsity at our major position then the Soph and Frosh at our secondary position. But we switched this year to the one side approach. Our staff has 4 on O and 4 on D with five volunteers mixed in. My question to you is how do you work it on your staff as far as coaches running the scout team and getting enough players to run scout team. Also what do you do with the players that only play one side of the ball. toprowguy, We are splitting up our staff differently this year. Instead of coaching one side of the ball and us coaching varsity and jv, we will have a separate varsity and jv staff. The varsity staff went from 9 to 6 with 3 going to the jv staff. Everyone will coach both sides of the ball except for the coordinators. They will coach the scout team. The jv will do group and team with the freshmen on tuesday and with the varsity on wednesday. All players will have an offenseive and a defensive postion, but many of them will be mainly offense or defense. We are trying to have as few players go both ways as possible. This way we get as much of the practice reps being 1's vs 1's as possible.
