Has anyone invited the USMC to do the Combat Fitness Test through Glazier? It looks great, but I'm just wondering about it. Is there a hitch? Cost? Risks?
I'd love to hear from someone who has done it. I love the idea and think it looks fantastic. Just hoping it's not too good to be true.

I had the Marines come out a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I had a meeting and could not make the session and my asst. coaches took over. What I do remember is that the kids were gassed afterward. The Marines didn't show up with a lot of gear, so the kids thought it would be easy. One of the big hitters were when they were carrying the ammo cans filled with sand. I also remember their bodies were sore for a day or two afterward. My coach told me it was a very good time for them. It broke up the normal weight room routine. But I think they found that they were sore because they were doing more unorthodox exercises and working their muscles in a different way.
I wish I could tell you more about the specific exercises. The consensus was that the Jarheads brought the heat.

I doubt that there's a cost. I'm sure that they consider it a recruiting tool.

It is a recruiting tool. They will ask for 5-10 min with your Seniors. Very nice change up in an offseason workout!

We had it scheduled two years ago. I called a week out to make sure everything was still okay and they had forgotten about it and the guys weren't going to be in town anymore (it was originally scheduled like only six weeks out). We were really disappointed, as we had heard it was a great experience, but what are you going to do (they're the Marines... more important matters at hand, I suppose).
Glazier will help put you in touch with the right person locally to set it up and everything. I think they bring whatever they'll need. They do it all for free, etc. for recruiting purposes. No hitches/risks as far as I know. When I was doing research on it back then, there were news stories about teams doing it from all over the country, so it may also be a way to get some press for both your program and the recruiters.
I may look into it again this fall, as I've only heard positive reviews. I think with the group we've got this season, our kids would love it.

We had them out several years ago. Great experience! Different exercises, mentality, atmosphere etc. The following year we went and camped w/football at an Army base for 3 days. Trained Army style, Team building, Ate MRE's and let the Army run things when we didnt have football. We even had the kids do night watches and such. Shocked them all when we got there and the soldiers ripped all there stuff off the bus and threw it in a big pile like going to boot camp. Awesome experience with no cost. Recruiting tool as stated above.

We did it during summer a couple years ago. It's a nice change of pace and something different than normal.
From what I remember, it starts with an 800m run as a warm up. Some of our big boys were already gassed. Then there were push-ups, ammo can presses and a very tough obstacle course. It doesn't take long to complete, but it's very demanding.
They time everyone as well. It was fun and competitive. One of the best things was getting people other than coaches to talk about the same values we preach all the time.
They brought all equipment minus cones for the obstacle course.
