I have a big, big 6 year old ( 51" tall and 110lbs) and we are having a devil of a time finding pants for him. I have bought three different brands with integrated pads (Nike, UnderArmour, and Schutt) that are big enough to fit his hips/waist and all are too long. The knee guards are on his shins. When I bought a pair that was short enough (Nike) and he barely squeezed into, half his butt would show every time he bent over. The rise is way too low. He has a big butt, lol. Does anyone know a brand/model of pants that has a higher rise for kids with big cabooses, and shorter legs? At this point I am leaning towards getting an integrated girdle and pair of pants to go over it.... I would be eternally grateful for the help...

Regarding protection-- just keep in mind that the knee pads in a girdle, or that insert into the pants generally don't do much in football-- at least that was my experience. I wore soccer knee pads underneath my pants. So maybe a worst case scenario you could use the pants that fit in the hips/waist and just cut the pants to fit. At 6 years old, I don't think anyone would have problems with uniform violations or rules.
