Vince Lombardi for overall coaching. Gus Malzahn for offense. Buddy Ryan for defense.

If it's mainly just to have a conversation about football in general, Barry Switzer. His life story is interesting and he had a great career. His autobiography (Bootlegger's Boy) is a damn good book. And my first question would be: Do you think the Wishbone offense that you ran at OU in the '70s and '80s would be anywhere near as successful today as it was during your tenure if you had elite talent running it? The second would probably be: What would you have done differently in handling Marcus Dupree, Troy Aikman and Brian Bosworth?

Serious answer: Bill Walsh- what was different about the way practiced and taught the game, which led to such great execution?
Somewhat serious answer: Mike Price- do you wish you'd have used a personal credit card instead of a university issued credit card for that hooker?

Chip Kelly- he just does so many unique things
The ryan brothers- most likely to get drunk and kill a hooker

Also, not a coach but I can't imagine more fun that beers with Art Donovan. Those guys in the '50's and '60's really enjoyed playing the game. I've actually had a couple of beers with Art Donovan. Before his passing (and could possibly still be) he rented his home in Baltimore out for wedding venues. And a buddy had his reception there. I was hiding in the corner of the bar when Art came down stairs. NO ONE knew who he was but me. For about an hour I sat there and we talked the Ravens draft choices that day. We talked DL play and the good ole days of the Colts. It was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. The funny thing was the first thing he said was "Where's my Schlitz?!" and he made fun of me drinking Miller Light. He was great!

Jon Gruden at Hooters... shameless plug.
Chuck Martin (HC at Miami (OH)).
Ditka would be great entertainment value.

Past- former Philadelphia dc Jim Johnson thought he did some interesting stuff that don't get talked about much.
Don James- grew up in Washington and never thought about much tell he was gone but would love to here how he got all those kids out of California.
Present- Howard Mudd as long time alex gibbs guy that played for a guy he coached I haven't seen much of his take on line play.
Joe lee Dunn - comes across as a good ol boy in all the film I've seen on him but like to see if he would get into detail over a few beers.

Me! I'd choose me when I was 20 and thought I knew everything. Maybe I could steer the young coach away from some situations ! I kinda had beers with bill Walsh at a clinic. He was at a table talking football with Illinois coach white in a bar at the same table I was at. I was in awe.

Bear Bryant: What really happened between you and Adolph Rupp at Kentucky in 53 that led to your resignation?
Everybody has heard the story about the Cadillac and the Cigar lighter, but from what I read that wasn't the real reason.

Only one coach I would want to sit down, have a beer with and discuss football with and that would be Jimmy Johnson. I would ask him how does he evaluate talent and develop organizations.

Well damn. I feel like that bumps him to the top of the list... He drinks coffee before every game which is another no no Mormon thing. I knew he went to BYU but I wasn't sure he was Mormon. While he was at Kentucky he use to go out to hangout with the students some. Living in Key West you can see him in a few places. I agree he would be a great guy to spend some time with. Chip kelly is another. I would of loved to of gotten the chance to talk to Red Faught. I hate the idea his offense being lost to time.

Coach Drennon, my old high school D-line coach, who was hit by a drunk driver the year after I graduated driving home from a game. He had severe brain damage and was stuck in a wheel chair, couldn't talk, but had a smile for everyone. He passed away a few years later. I remember as a sophomore, he gave me 2 dollars during practice and sent me across the street to get him a can of Copenhagen. He gave me the nickname, Racehorse. He was a good man.

Dead: Bill Walsh, I'd ask him about some WCO concepts and program building questions.
Alive: Torn between Chip Kelly and Jon Gruden. Both of those guys have different personalities but both of them eat, sleep and breath football. I'd be more interested in talking X's and O's with Kelly. I'm fascinated by a lot of the concepts he has brought from Oregon to Philly and his Sports Science approach to practice. It's funny to listen to Gruden be Mr. Jolly Gumdrop in the booth, but to know as a coach how direct and to the point he was.

I don't know the exact house, but I always dreamed of running in to him and talking about OL play over a beer.

Leach said in his book that him and Hal Mumme used to sit in a diner for hours and write up plays on napkins. I'd love to make that a bar instead of a diner and really get them talking.
But as far as a former coach I would just love to talk about ANYTHING with Id have to say Mack Brown. His speech in the locker room after they won it all vs USC says everything you need to know about the man.
When a reporter told him later in his career that most people thought his biggest weakness was he was "too nice" he responded saying "we'll if the worst thing someone's gotta say about you is that you're too nice, I guess you're doin alright."

I sat and BS'd with Mumme for about 20 minutes when he was at UK, he is a good guy. My wife is from Iowa and grew up in Mt Pleasant where Wesleyan is and my Brother in law played there so we are big Mumme and Leach fans.

So if you have a beer w/Leach, does it have to be at a bar, or would he prefer to lock you in a shed for that?! Lol, had to, I love me some of the Pirate, not a shot whatsoever...well, sort of...

On Leach being Mormon, I have lived in Utah for almost 3 years and have only met a handful of mormons that don't drink. They just do it in secret.
I'd like to sit down and talk with Briles. He's a turnaround expert.
