Calling all of the great story tellers.
Do you have any strange/funny stories from your years of football experience that you can share?
I tell my players every year about a friend of mine called Uno. During practice when I played HS ball, we were warming up for special teams and David was fielding punts. He had caught 3 or 4 of them, then on the next one he caught the ball, took 3 steps and fell to the ground into the fetal position holding his crotch and screaming. The trainer rushed to him and the squad was eventually called. It turns out that he had gotten a testicle twisted so badly that they had to remove it, thus his new name.
The cause of the injury... lack of support. He had been wearing boxers under his shorts and things were bouncing around so much that bad things happened.
Moral of the story: If you don't want a sad nickname, better not practice in boxers.

When schools hire less experienced coaches as HCs because they don't want to find a teaching spot. This happened to me this year.
I interviewed at a school. I have a guy on the inside and I know I was their guy. The only point of contention was that they did not want to move their double certified Spanish teacher to the open english slot that they had, which they easily could have done. Instead they hired some rookie in the community. The losing tradition continues! I am sure they did me a favor.
