It's better to be thought of a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. In other words, STFU and lift!

Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid altogether.
TEAMWORK…means never having to take all the blame yourself.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I put this one up in multiple places, primarily for other programs who use the room:

This is my favorite. I used to tell my offense before every game that I didnt care if we won or lost. I wanted the other team to say thank God we dont have to play them again. If every team did that, we would win more than we lost. This isn't my own by any means, but this year the kids responded well to "Be the team everyone wants to be, but nobody wants to play"

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road long before I dance under those lights" - Muhammad Ali ^Freaking love that one. Love Ali. A lot of kids do too so its cool.
"Victorious Warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win" - Sun Tzu
And the 2 pains is good - Pain of discipline or pain of defeat.

Taken from coachklee COMMITMENT The difference between ‘involvement’ and ‘commitment’ is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was ‘involved’ - the pig was ‘committed’. ~Mike Leach, I think DISCIPLINE It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen. ~John Wooden EFFORT No one has ever drowned in sweat. ~Lou Holtz TOUGHNESS Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. ~Jim Valvano

I knew the worm had turned when one of the kids called me out for not racking my weights. Luckily, I wasn't done yet.

Saw this in a thread on "Above the Line" that I really like: Leaders create culture. Culture drives behavior. Behavior produces results

Last time I ran a weightroom, I made up signs that said, "No curling in the squat rack". Kids loved it...kind of made the squat rack a sacred alter...

Our preacher curl is known as going to tool time in our weight room after the kids that go there first thing.

PIGSKIN11 , this is above B's door in the weight room. I'm partial to the Frankl quote in my signature "That which is to give light must endure burning." Other favorites: I like a man who grins when he fights - Churchill Fatigue makes cowards of us all - Lombardi (allegedly) Don't aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself - Viktor Frankl (I really like him) “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” - Ryunosuke Satoro What a man can be, he must be. - AH Maslow With realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world. - The Dalai Lama

Maybe better in the locker room than weight room, but it's great anywhere.
"Losers assemble in small groups & complain about the coaches and other players. Winners assemble as a TEAM and find ways to win."
Bill Parcells reads it at the very end of his HOF speech... It'll give you chills.
