Coaches..whatdo you use for pump up music? Do you screen it? Do you let the players choose?

John's a cranky old guy, not a pup like me. The music that you pick depends on the team's demographic. What gets one team hopping around will get a serious WTF from other kids. Why not ask the kids? Give them your specs then have them submit their ideas to you for approval.

You gotta let the kids pick. Whatever they really want and what gets them ready to play is all that really matter.
And for another matter, if you've got pregame and warm up music, you should let the kids pick that too. I've known parents to complain that they don't like certain songs, but it's not for them. I honestly couldn't care what fans and parents think about our music choice.

Get the kids to make a list of the songs and make sure they are clean. If they want to get pumped up, don't play earth, wind, and fire or freakin cher!
I will never have my senior year back....turn down for everything!

Our HCs car was in shop this summer so I had to pick him up for workouts for a while. I had my Pandora on George Jones radio on first day. After first song he asked me what it was. After second song he asked me to change it. I told hom he could out vote me in every aspect of football but there's no veto power in my car...needless to say I don't pick our pregame music.

Last year we played the same song over and over and over and OVER and OVER for pregame/warm up.
Electric Powwow by A Tribe Called Red
Our team is almost all Native American so it fit for us.

Long story short.. We let the kids make a CD with edited version of songs. Came out for warm-up and kids were dancing.. Needless to say. Whatever is playing on the local station this week is what they will be warming up to. I am all for being loose before a game but, dancing..... The head coach LOST it..

This is why they have ear "buds", etc., etc....
They are just like their coaches, they do not all like the same music.

Pump up music is a bunch if crap, I don't care how grumpy it makes me look, only one song fits the bill of good pump up music.

Thanks for the help coaches. I did ask them and i got more ehh we like this but no actual in put. More vague answers. I dont allow earbuds or personal music. This day in age is all about not communicating. Thos sport requires communication. But thanks again

Kids pick the music. We have about 20 songs and mix it up for warm-up. Run Out song is chosen by Senior captains and changes year to year. Our guys also do a Team Prayer (Nebraska's Team Prayer) in our tunnel at the beginning of the run out song.
This year I think our song is called New Noise. I have no idea who it is by but not a bad song for run out.
I don't get too much into the pump up stuff but our fans seem to enjoy it.

I don't get too much into the pump up stuff but our fans seem to enjoy it. That is one thing I argue with my head about all the time. If it was his way we would go out and stretch to crickets chirping. He doesn't care for music or a pump up chant. He always says, "we don't need all that crap, they just need to go out and play ball". Yes that is true to an extent but these are high school kids and they like the flashy and gaudy and sometimes annoying fads. This is the community's weekly entertainment and if the crowd likes the show they will keep coming back.

Well if you are playing to the crowd, the ones who pay to get in you better let the old farts pick the songs!! Some of this newer stuff is very unentertaining!
