We had our defensive staff meeting yesterday. The agenda was to go over the end of the year coaches evaluation/survey, talk depth chart, player meetings, and winter objectives. One thing I decided to do was to film the meeting.
1- we had a coach that is coaching baseball and couldn't attend 2- wanted to have a 'library' that we could go back to and look 3- I wanted to check out how I presented myself
I haven't had a chance to look over it yet. I'm interested in watching.

I like the idea for a few reasons, pressure to stay on topic, pressure to be prepared, and self reflection (how the message got across, who was contributing what and how you took that in, etc)

Not quite the same, but at Clinics, we had coaches do presentations of the clinic speakers they had heard and we filmed it. I really liked it but the lure of gambling and adult beverages made it difficult to maintain.

If you accomplished the purpose of the meeting roll with it.

I read that Bill Walsh filmed all of his team installation stuff so when he lost a coach the new coach could come in and see how the previous coach had installed and coached the players. This lead to a smooth transition among coaches after change. I think this is a tremendous idea, especially at the high school level where it's often hard to replace good coaches and keep a uniformed message to the players.
I like the idea of coaching staff meetings, but I doubt I would do it....big brother is watching!
