This season we will be using Protech Helmet covers in an effort to stem the growing concussion issue. Yes we look like Spaceballs, but they do a hell of a job reducing impact "Head Injury CriteriaHead Injury Criteria (HIC) measures the potential for head injury.
The HIC was developed for the automobile industry as it was assessing the use of seat belts, harnesses and air bags. The HIC standard for helmets is 250. Most helmets don’t come close to this measurement—they range well above 280 and many older helmets are in the 600 to 1000 range. When the ProTech cover is placed on a helmet, the HIC ranges in the 230 to 250 range + or – 10."
All programs should seriously consider using them Check them out here www.defendyourhead.com/

Okay,
I had to drop physics in high school because I couldn't keep up, so I may be way off. But this seems promising. We know we can't keep the brain from banging against the inside of the skull, but it seems like material like this could significantly reduce the force at which the brain gets jarred. Can you where them in a game? Does it affect liability of helmet manufacturer? Are you seeing less concussions? Curious to hear your thoughts.

No actually, weve had 3 "concussions" since we donned the caps
I say "concussions" because 2 of them seemed very suspicious if you will, kids missing school but showing at practice, and goofing off, but since theres no way to disprove that, and concussion care is purely symptom based you have to follow protocol
1 to me seemed legitimate
So i cant say whether or not they have reduced concussions based on what would be tainted data at this point
We wear them all the time and all players are required to have them on at all times.
They hate them at 1st but they get used to them
I havent heard anything about liability, but a case can be made for going overboard to protect our players
