Coaches if you are going to interview for a HC position what would be questions you as a candidate would ask of that school?

One of them needs to be how much authority you will have over the school’s weight program, especially if you aren’t the AD.

How much authority do you have over the assistant coaches? Are you stuck with what has been there? Can you bring in any? Can you get rid of any? How cooperative is the admin in getting coaches hired.

This has been covered a million times. Great question but I believe guys have posted their Google docs with their stuff. Remember, administration lies. Who really is in charge is school board. I was a savior one year and the villain the next. I pissed off wrong people. I would definitely say how far are you willing to support me when I tick off parents or school board. Remember again, they have to cover their butts also. I interviewed at a school that has been notorious for going through coaches. I was up front. Said after a year if you don't like me or I don't like it then I'm gone. Didn't get the job.

What amount of time do u get with the players? For example, is there an athletic period, are weights done throughout the day, is athletic period early or late in the day? Weight room and relationships build your team so how much time do you get for those items.
How many coaches do we have and is hiring coaches going to be a priority? If you have seven available supplements and only three coaches is the school leadership going to help you get a full staff or are they happy with status quo?

Can I get the kids in the weightroom during the school day?
Can I spend the money I raise however I want?
What’s my teaching gig going to be?
What programs in the state would you like to see our program be like and what will you be willing to do to help us get there? I wouldn’t ask this if interviewing at an elite school, but I would reshape it to ask what has lead to success what is admins role in that success.
