I'm concerned about numbers this year. We may only have around 30 on the team - and we should have more. I'm going to send a letter home with all the kids whom I consider prospects (they played in youth leagues/they play other sports, etc.). I'd like to give more than just opinion. Does anyone have any statistics or anything that might get across points like... -kids participating in sports are less likely to get in trouble in school -kids participating in sports are less likely to get involved in drugs -kids involved in sports are more likely to be successes in one way or another Actually, if you can think of ANYTHING I could put in the letter, I'd GREATLY appreciate it.

Rookie, Theres a story of a kid( pretty good athlete) that moved between his JR/SR years. The road he was taking was leading him straight into trouble. Didnt want to move, a mad at the world know it all. The football coach at the new school tried to get him to come out, but it was a tough sell. The kid did come out and through the leadership and examples the coach set forth, a major turnaround began. That kid now has a family of 5 and worked at the same place for the last 18+ years. I know the story first hand because I was that kid. That was 27 years ago and I still stop by and visit "Coach Braud" every so often. So Rookie, you may increase you numbers on your team, find a stud player in the mix, or you may actually change someones life by reaching out to kids that are not already signed up. I would not be where I am now without football and "Coach". So go for it, reach out to all you can and maybe you will have the same impact on someone because all of you coaches are looked up to and respected by people you have no idea are watching.
