Thread caught my eye. Last week after a 63 to 38 loss had the head coach tell our lt he was damn good but needs to quite the cheap crap.
I watched the film quite a few times and didn't see anything dirty or cheap. Got a reputation as a aggressive line and have herd he dirty thing come up a few times.
Off the field all 5 starters are high gpa kids and except for the wrestler center would probably cry if they ever got punched in the face.
Anyway don't know it they are mean I just call It playing hard. Think it's just being confident in there assignment like said and coaching the little extra. Cutting on the backside being part of the tackle demanding a attempt to finish. Are you ok with a tackle just gap seal hinging on the back side of power? Or do you demand they find work? Same with a tackle on a screen high wall or a uncovered in pass pro.
Just buy praising and showing it for us it became habit.

I think that domination mindset isn't necessarily mean. All of things we're talking about come back to competitiveness or confidence. I have the nicest group of lineman I've ever had. Goofy, silly, stupid, but they play hard, get after, have great effort, and are piling up pancakes like ihop even though they aren't big. Coach a kid up to the point where he is extremely confident in his abilities and encourage him to never let up on a defender and you'll get that "mean" you want.
