Coaches,
I'm trying to gain a sense of how much time your program devotes to football in the summer.
Is your summer more focused on football skill (Indy, scheme, technique) OR to weights and condo? We seem to be 50-50 on both.

About 20-30 minutes of football 3 days a week, about 45 minutes once a week. Maybe a little more once a week if we get together for a 7 on 7 with another school.
We lift 3 days a week, run/speed work 4 days a week.

about an hour of each (football and 'condo') 3 times each week over the summer.
Being in FL, tho, we start in January, same schedule, but 4 days a week. That includes indy, team work, 7-on-7 against other schools, lifting...all of it

I thought it was a new name for team bonding too, at first!

We go three days a week for two hours each. It's about equally divided between lifting and conditioning/football work. In addition we usually go to one 7 on 7 tournament.

You could probably get away with working on plays if you used a basketball!

As far as time spent in the summer, this was the least I made our team do since ive been head coach in five years. We had the best season in five years also. in June we went from 8am until 1030am 3 days a week. Lifted and conditioned for about 1hr and 45 minutes of that time. July we went 5pm until 730pm. Lifted and conditioned about an hr of that time. We start school at the end of july and then we go to regular daily after schol practices, 3pm until 520pm. I found out this year that less equals more for my program.

We have no restrictions on what we can do outside of making it mandatory, wearing full pads, and hitting.
So we go three nights a week from July till start of official practice. With a new five day mandatory heat acclimatization period now.
4-5 weight room is open 5-7 on the field in shells for workout.
Like fantom said not as lucky as you would think...

Im at a program that goes 20 hours a week in the summer (not counting 7 on 7)seems to be about 2/3 football. I have fought against this for a while, it is not good. You shouldn't need that much time to work on scheme and technique in the offeseason in the summer.
Best programs I've been a part of seem to have about 7 hours of becoming a better athlete (wts, speed, condo) per week in the summer, and about 3-4 hours a week doing football stuff.

3 days per week, 2 hrs a day. Lifting/conditioning+speed work/agility split. They get some homework to do over the weekend (tempo run...conditioning or jump rope on own)
2-3 days per week skills work including a 7v7 league we play in.
Used to do 4 days a week as well, but M/T/R everyone is there and Friday everyone bails and pi$$es me off so we stopped doing Fridays. Kids and coaches are much happier.

We go M-Th, 1 hour in the weight room, 1 hour on the field. We do a couple camps where we invite other Wing-T teams to come and do Wing-T stuff with us.
