I have been the offensive line coach for four years now plus I have coached the defensive ends(I am at a small school) but most of my concentration has been on the offensive side of the football. The DC job may be coming open and I really want to pursue it. Admittedly, my knowledge of the defensive secondary could be better, but I have a good grasp of the front seven/eight. I think my head coach is reluctant to give me the DC because it will take away from my OL focus. I want them both and am willing to bust my tail to work hard on both sides of the ball. Just wanted to see what some of you other head coaches think.

I do both. My brother does both. As the o line coach the OC tells me what we're running any given week and then it's up to me to get it done with the hogs. I do some film work for the o line but not nearly as much as I do for the D. But then again that's what the OC is for. Tell me the fronts we'll face and I'll rep it with the hogs.
