I know several of you have experience with both the double wing and single wing. I am wanting to run a variation of the single wing spinner series and would like a little advice. Right now I'm thinking that we would run the series out of an existing set for us this would be gun rover.
.....E.T.C.G.G.T.E.... ...TB.................WB. ..........QB............... ...............FB...........
1. Is it doable? 2. How well do you find that single wing and double wing concepts work together? 3. I like this set, to start, because we can still run superpower, counter nd crisscross out of it, but do you see problems with the formation.
Thanks for your help.

.....E.T.C.G.G.T.E.... ...TB.................WB. ..........QB............... ...............FB........... 1. Is it doable? Well, Pop Warner (the coach, not the league) did something very similar in 1912, and it worked out OK for him... Well, Pop Warner (see above) invented both the single wing and the original, direct-snap double wing, and found the concepts traveled nicely back and forth between the two formations...he also invented the direct-snap version of the Markham Power off-tackle play, so he was something of an authority. Too many options to choose from? Coach, all kidding aside, you are on exactly the right track to create a powerful and deceptive direct-snap offense. That it will probably closely resemble something that was in vogue 80 years ago is immaterial...it worked great then, and should work great for you now. My only advice is to strictly limit the number of things you attempt from this formation...let "doing a few things perfectly" be your motto.

we ran direct snap dw in 2002. we mixed in balanced line sw and dw. we used a blocking back and a spinning fullback and two wings. great stuff.
