Just curious about the verbage some people use in playcalling. I'm always looking for a simpler way to convey to the players what I want.
For instance, what would you guys call a quick stop out of shotgun and explain it.
Ours would be GUN 30-00(double zero) Gun tells formation, 30 tells QB line and WR's that it is 3 step, and 00 tells the receivers from outside in what route to run.
What about a GT play out of shotgun?

"Right 82 Texas"
Right = formation. we are auto gun unless i give signal for under 82 = protection Texas = stop route
for me, states refer to doubles routes (designed for 2 rec's), cars refer to trips routes (designed for 3)...other names have the routes set regardless...(ie. z always runs this, x this, etc.)

Doubles Right Gun 14 Counter GT
qb counter out of gun, back blocks back on the end the qb would be reading on the 24 gt
we use the tag for the ol because we have other things where we pull, to let them know

for us its blue gun 00-00 no strength call makes it a right formation. numbers go from right to left for the receivers. numbered pass plays like this are blocked using drop-back rules.
for gt its blue gun 16 gt. we are reading bs de in our gt's.

same for us, as far as tagging the run scheme...22 zone, 24 draw, 26 power, 26 counter, etc.
22 personnel ... I-formation ... power right R 26 Power
31 personnel ... pro-twins formation ... power right (qb) R Twins 16 Power
31 personnel .. pro-twins formation .. power right (rb, use motion to kick out) R Twins Aim 26 Power
