After a slow start to the season in the non conference slate (mostly due to injuries and difficult schedule), we turned our season around and went undefeated in conference. We got a first round bye and mercy ruled our opponent in the 2nd round. In the quarterfinals we host the 2 time defending state champions. We dominated them the first two and a half quarters, up 29-7 with about 5 to go in the 3rd quarter. Then here they came.
Bomb for a TD on 4th and 15 Pass Interference on 4th and 10 to extend drive, leads to TD Onside kick recovered.
Opponents take lead with 27 seconds to go and beat us 30 to 29.
Toughest game I have been apart of!

This is the harsh reality of playoff football.
All of the teams, save one, will lose their last game of the season.

If you coach long enough, regardless of how good you are, something like that is likely to happen to you.
See Nick Saban and the "Kick Six."

Not that your circumstance isn't particularly harsh... but the cruel mistress of the playoffs is that most everyone is excited to make the playoffs, yet everybody but 1 goes home disappointed.

The only "real" loss would be not allowing this to actually make us better. And that battle will be fought in the future. Sounds like you just got ALL the motivation you'll need to power your offseason. HEAL UP AND START SHARPENING YOUR SWORDS. Good luck

I feel for you. Heading right now to load bus for the State Championship right now.

State semi finals. Really no buisness being in game at all. Beat 3 team, 2 of whom should of made us look stupid. And even this team, just dumb struck with kids, ATHLETES. EVERYWHERE. We are up 10-3 or nothing at half time(almost 20 years ago) running power and inside veer and counter trey. We are in charge till late in the 3rd quarter, fumble, they recover, TD. Next, Fumble, they recover Touchdown. Next posession, we fumble AGAIN, they recover and score a Touchdown. By this time its late in the 4th. We do it again, they kick a fieldgoal. We have no passing game. Game over
